چکیده

The lack of observed streamflow datasets for calibration rainfall-runoff models imposes substantial problems their applicability, especially in poorly gauged or ungauged river basins. Developing satellite technologies and increasing computational powers over the past decades, have provided an environment researchers to simulate several water balance components globally using these assimilation techniques. Due importance accurate hydrologic modeling, this study aims investigate applicability global resources reanalysis (GWRR) including surface soil moisture (SSM), evapotranspiration (ET), runoff (SR) macro-scale hydrological model (VIC-3L) SefidRood basin (SRB) Iran at different scenarios. Results show that case SSM datasets, model’s performance simulation hydrograph, with NSE value higher than 0.65, is better other datasets. Among based on LISFLOOD HBV are best ones VIC-3L SRB. In contrast, ET aren’t so reliable area. Furthermore, cases tends overestimation low-flows, while, more such flows. Also, findings displayed combination performed only one dataset. conclusion, research gives useful applied insights GWRR data sources modeling studies, limited regions.

Global hydrological cycles and world water resources.

Water is a naturally circulating resource that is constantly recharged. Therefore, even though the stocks of water in natural and artificial reservoirs are helpful to increase the available water resources for human society, the flow of water should be the main focus in water resources assessments. The climate system puts an upper limit on the circulation rate of available renewable freshwater ...

Simulation of Water Balance Components Using a Distributed Hydrological Model in Taleghan Watershed

Water changes information in the hydrological system, in time and space, as an environmental issue takes heed of managers and decision makers in watershed management and river engineering, which can be addressed by using spatially distributed modeling. In this study simulation of water balance components in Taleghan mountainous watershed is performed using the spatially distributed hydrological...

Calibration of global hydrological models based on streamflow characteristics

Streamflow (Q) estimation in ungauged catchments is perhaps the most fundamental challenge faced by hydrologists. A promising approach to calibrate hydrological models in ungauged catchments is to use estimated Q characteristics to identify acceptable model parameter sets. This study is the first to test this approach at the global scale using a large, heterogeneous catchment set. First, observ...

Evaluating Global Reanalysis Datasets as Input for Hydrological Modelling in the Sudano-Sahel Region

This paper investigates the potential of using global reanalysis datasets as input for hydrological modelling in the data-scarce Sudano-Sahel region. To achieve this, we used two global atmospheric reanalyses (Climate Forecasting System Reanalysis and European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) ERA-Interim) datasets and one global meteorological forcing dataset WATCH Forcing Data...

Calibration analysis for water storage variability of the global hydrological model WGHM

The aim of this study is to provide an improved global simulation of continental water storage variations by calibrating the WaterGAP Global Hydrology Model (WGHM) for 28 of the largest river basins worldwide. Five years (January 2003–December 2007) of satellite-based estimates of the total water storage changes from the GRACE mission were combined with river discharge data in a multiobjective ...
